What is Curbside Pickup?

Curbside pickup provides customers with the ability to place orders that will be delivered to their car in the store’s parking lot. This is an opt-in feature, meaning that it will be disabled by default and stores will need to choose to enable it.

Here’s how it works:

When customers get to checkout and choose pickup, they’ll see a secondary toggle that allows them to choose whether an order is for in-store pickup or curbside pickup.

When an order is placed for curbside pickup, your store will be alerted of the new order per usual, but the order will indicate it’s for curbside pickup.

You will be provided with onboarding materials alongside best practices for fulfilling these curbside pickup orders; however, it will be entirely up to you to facilitate order fulfillment (i.e. walk out to the car, confirm the order and customer ID, place the order in the car).

Managing Curbside Pickup

To enable or disable curbside pickup for your store, head on over to your Dashboard as follows:

  • Go to Vendor Dashboard > Website > Pickup / Delivery - In-Store & Curbside Pickup section
  • Set the feature to enabled/disabled
  • Save

If you’d like to modify your curbside pickup instructions from the default provided to all curbside pickup-enabled stores:

  • Go to Vendor Dashboard > Website > Pickup / Delivery - In-Store & Curbside Pickup section
  • Input new curbside pickup instructions in the ‘Curbside Pickup Instructions’ field
  • Save

Just like your delivery and in-store pickup order notifications, curbside pickup also has various notification settings available such as:

  • Email
  • Phone call
  • SMS text

To enable specific curbside pickup order notifications, follow the steps you had when enabling these order notifications all other fulfillment options (delivery and in-store pickup).

How to Enable Curbside Pickup

  1. Login into your Owners Dashboard
  2. Click “Settings” on the side navigation
  3. Click “Website” below Settings
  4. On the top Navigation bar click “Pickup / Delivery”
  5. Scroll down and check the box next to “Curbside Pickup”
  6. Add your phone number and/or edit the instructions
  7. Save

How to Process Curbside Pickup Orders

  1. Login into your Owners Dashboard
  2. Click “Orders” on the side navigation
  3. Find the order that has been successfully placed
  4. Change status to “Accepted”
  5. Gather the items in your store for the customer
  6. Once the items are ready for pickup, change the status to “Ready for Pickup”
    1. Your customer will then receive a ‘Ready for Pickup’ email with your curbside pickup instructions and should be on the way to pick up their order before the end of the day!
  7. After the items have been delivered to the customer in your designated pickup zone, change the status to “Completed”

Curbside Pickup Signage

Promenade’s Customer Service team will help you choose the right Curbside Pickup sign for your parking area to ensure a positive customer experience. If you do choose to put a sign outside of your store or at the location of the parking zone, then the design and physical sign is your responsibility (we are here to help). Tips to Improve the Curbside Pickup Experience

First time fulfilling curbside pickup orders? Here are some best practices for you to consider!

  • Always make sure your curbside pickup instructions are updated on the Dashboard.
    • We provide you with a default set of instructions where your customers would call your store once they have arrived. If you’d like to change the method of which your customers would inform you of their arrival, please be sure to customize and update your instructions!
  • Use our Promenade-provided curbside pickup materials.
    • This helps your customers find you easily when they drop by to pick up their curbside orders.
  • If you choose to be notified by phone, text or via the QR code method whenever your customer arrives for their curbside order, be sure your phone is easily accessible!
    • If you choose to be notified via phone calls, please be sure to pick up the phone. Likewise, for text notifications, etc.

FAQs

  • What happens if I want to cancel a curbside pickup order?

Your customer will be notified of the cancellation just like any other order.

  • What happens if I get too many curbside pickup orders at once?

You can temporarily disable your curbside pickup fulfillment option via your Dashboard settings. Do note, however, that you are still required to fulfill any accepted curbside pickup orders that have come in prior to the curbside pickup option being disabled.

  • How do I temporarily close my store from curbside pickup orders?

You can do this through the following options:

  1. Disable curbside pickup via your Dashboard settings (recommended).
  2. Set a range of dates where your store is available for pickup only (no pickup orders are allowed to be placed outside of this date range). Important: Please note that in choosing to set a ‘Pickup Only’ schedule, you are indicating that your store is only available for pickup orders and not for delivery.
  • Can I still modify my orders for curbside pickup?

Yes, you can. It works just like any other order (delivery or in-store)!

  • Can I use my own curbside pickup marketing materials?

Yes, you may! As long as your customer is able to find you and happily pick up their curbside pickup order, you can customize your curbside pickup process however you’d like. Promenade also provides you with the option to purchase curbside pickup signage free of our logos so that you may choose to customize your signage however you’d like.
