In-Store Pickup

Need help with an in-store pickup? We’ve got you covered below.

What is In-Store Pickup?

In-store pickup is exactly what it sounds like: customers place an order on your site and then, once you set an order to ‘Ready for Pickup’, the customer would come pick up their order any time on the day they had arranged for a pickup. You can choose to enable or disable this feature on your Dashboard.

Here’s how it works:

When customers get to checkout and choose pickup, they’ll see a secondary toggle that allows them to choose whether an order is for in-store pickup or curbside pickup.

When an order is placed for in-store pickup, your store will be alerted of the new order per usual, but the order will indicate it’s for in-store pickup.

You will choose to accept or cancel an order, prepare the order (if you accepted an order), and then set the order status to ‘Ready for Pickup’ to inform the customer that their order is ready. Your customer will then show up on pickup day (whether it’s the day the order was placed or sometime in the future) to collect their order.

Still confused? Don’t fret, we have outlined some best practices below.

Managing In-Store Pickup

To enable or disable in-store pickup for your store, head on over to your Dashboard as follows:

  • Set the feature to enabled/disabled

Just like your delivery and curbside pickup order notifications, in-store pickup also has various notification settings available such as:

  • Email
  • Phone call
  • SMS text

To enable specific pickup order notifications, follow the steps you had when enabling these order notifications all other fulfillment options.

Tips to Improve the In-Store Pickup Experience

First time fulfilling in-store pickup orders? Here are some best practices for you to consider!

  • Remember that an in-store pickup experience is different from curbside.
    • Your customers will be entering your store to collect their orders. Be sure your store has enough room and looks presentable!
  • Don’t forget to set your order status to ‘Ready for Pickup’.
    • This is how your pickup customers will know when their orders are ready for them. A ‘Ready for Pickup’ email will be sent once an order has been set to this status.
  • If you’re receiving too many in-store pickup orders or your store is running out of room for in-store pickups, you can choose to fulfill new orders via curbside instead.
    • You don’t need to have in-store pickup enabled in order to try out curbside pickup as a fulfillment method. Go ahead and only enable curbside pickup if you’d prefer to meet your customers at their cars with their orders.
